There were a num\u00adber of threads of dis\u00adcus\u00adsion in this area that came from dis\u00adcuss\u00ading the idea of the uni\u00adon or a stand\u00adard\u00adised body. We struggled with (and prob\u00adably will through this exer\u00adcise) to identi\u00adfy the one area that would make for good eth\u00adic\u00adal stand\u00ading in design. For Ben this was \u2018hon\u00adesty\u2019. I find this really inter\u00adest\u00ading as I com\u00adpletely agree in eth\u00adic\u00adal terms, how\u00adever I can\u00adnot see how this would ever be pos\u00adsible when \u2018design\u2019 by its very nature is sub\u00adject\u00adive and a uni\u00adver\u00adsally accep\u00adted under\u00adstand\u00ading of images\/culture would be needed.<\/p>\n
Here are two videos show\u00ading a spe\u00adcif\u00adic example (as dis\u00adcussed) of how decep\u00adtion occurs in advert\u00adising in very blatant ways and in my opin\u00adion proves that hon\u00adesty can nev\u00ader be any\u00adthing but a sub\u00adject\u00adive mat\u00adter. for the simple fact that not every\u00adone will be aware that the images por\u00adtrayed are a dis\u00adhon\u00adest rep\u00adres\u00adent\u00ada\u00adtion of the sub\u00adject and the false prom\u00adise made by the man\u00adu\u00adfac\u00adturer. It is inter\u00adest\u00ading to me that if \u2018hon\u00adesty\u2019 is the agreed cri\u00adter\u00adia of mor\u00adal prac\u00adtice, that we shall need forge a more detailed mode of oper\u00ada\u00adtion later on should we decide to pur\u00adsue our own manifesto.<\/p>\n
